Everybody seems to have their own favorite brand and some posts on here just look like downright shills. I don't have any brand loyalty, I'm tempted to just grab some random whitelabel mini split off Amazon and be done with it but I'd rather shell out some additional cash to get something that's not going to bite the dust after 6 months. What are some brands who will actually sell a precharged kit directly to an end user?
My requirements are pretty straightforward. I want something that's:
- precharged with refrigerant
- flare your own line set
- 12,000 BTUs
- Decent heat output down to 5f
I've got my own vacuum pump and tools, I'd gladly buy a Mitsubishi if they would sell it to me. It's frustrating that all the higher end recommended brands are 100% locked down to their existing contractors and distributors and DIY gets left to 100 different whitelabel brands. I don't even have an issue with buying a whitelabel unit but I'd rather not pay an extra $1000 markup because they slapped a new logo onto the side.
What's everyone's favorite brands that you can actually buy without going through a traditional HVAC company?
