Smart glasses have piqued my interest and I have some legitimate use cases for them. Id ideally want to make them my daily glasses as I wear glasses already and am blind as a bat without them.
I'm a hobbyist wildlife photographer and go exploring far off the beaten path a lot. I also explore a lot on my ebike and frequently run into cool things that I would love to catch videos of but am not able to get my camera out in time for. Like the other day, I encountered a coyote while on a photography trip. He was too quick for me to get off my bike, pull my camera out of my bag and get photos of him. Being able to instantly capture a video of him would have been nice and better than nothing.
My wife is Hispanic. I'm in a group chat with her family and they all talk in Spanish. While I'm still learning Spanish and know some, being able to quickly translate what I'm looking at in the messages would be really handy. We also eat at a lot of Spanish restaurants that have menus in Spanish that translation would be helpful for.
My best friend calls me a lot while I'm out and about and I don't carry headphones around with me. Being able to talk to him hands free would be great and smart glasses seem good for that.
I'm not a smart device or accessory person. Not into watches or rings or anything like that. Glasses are the first smart device that I think I'd legitimately gain benefit from.
The Meta Ray-Bans look good but they're bulky as hell. The last thing I want is me being accused of being some kind of perv or having people in public areas like stores ask if I'm recording them. Id also like to not have some chunky ass frames weigh a ton and be uncomfortable to wear all day. Even if I don't wear them during work or relaxation, having a good pair to wear on my photography bouts and bike rides would be awesome.
Are there any other brands besides Rayban or Rokids that meet these desires? Sound/calling and a camera are a must. I can live without translation but it would be nice to have. The price on what Im seeing is pretty steep so I'd like to make the most informed decision that I can before pulling the trigger especially since I'd have prescription lenses and those don't appear to be refundable if I don't like them.
Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you!
