Wow, just had the most amazing experience at a little restaurant in Trastevere. My partner and I had just had lunch and wanted a pint of beer to make our afternoon walk back to our air bnb more enjoyable.. we stumbled on Hostaria del Roody and spotted a bench out front with red cushions, we asked the owner if we could sit in the sun drenched bench for a pint and he was more than pleased to accommodate us. He showered us with bruschette, spritz, fresh olives, prosciutto crudo and the beer we’d asked for!! All gratis- free of charge! When we asked him why he said that anyone that asked to sit at that bench got food and drinks free because it was his late mothers favorite place to sit in while he worked his shifts.. i cant explain how magical rome has been, and that just added to the charm.
