The car is in decent shape for its age: no serious rust, well documented service history. Timing belt and clutch will need doing soon, but nothing else that I know of.

My main concern is the engine. I don't drive a lot (5 maybe 10k km/year) so I would want to avoid having to worry about unplanned servicing and spending too much per km. Even though how popular the BBZ engine is I struggle to find comprehensive info about it.

I was also surprised (and maybe unreasonably started to be suspicious) by how cheap these Fabias go for something that seems like a decent car to me and is liked by many owners. Mine would be 800€.

For context I now have a 96 Opel Corsa B with 120k km. While I love it, I have to face it its tiny, and lacks everything that might be called an extra (no AC, central locks, not even lights in the boot). But 30 stress free years, without any breakdowns or unexpected repairs is an extra that would make everybody reconsider I think.

So what are your experiences on the longevity of a well maintained high mileage BBZ engined Fabia? Would you switch?
