Hi All,
My question, hockey or figure skates?
You may be wondering why this is my question, that I should know what I want but there's more to it. I used to skate casually when I was a kid, now a 32f. My daughter (4) has decided she wants to play hockey and has started LTS. She asks to go to public skates and she needs someone on the ice with her, which ends up being me. At our normal arena I've been okay with the rental skates but we went to a new place this weekend (normal arena was closed) and the rental skates WRECKED me. I was in so much pain and just couldn't do it, which meant she had to stop early too. I really don't want to be the limiting factor for her and show her positivity when it comes to activities.
I'm thinking I need to have my own skates to avoid the inconsistencies in the skates and reduce pain but I'm not sure which type to get. I would love to take lessons, but I just can't make the class times work, so it's really just for me to skate with my daughter. If I get figure skates can I still help her when she switches to hockey skates? Will I be able to keep up with her? Can I even use hockey skates? I should also say I have a very weak right ankle (in PT trying to fix, they fully support me skating as long as I'm not in pain)
Thanks!
