Spent upwards of 9 hours digging out Bermuda grass and planting this flower bed directly off my pergola. I’m super proud of the work I did. It was so hard… the Peggy Martin roses are already jumping to the pergola post where they’ll be trained. Everything else is thriving.

This is a full sun flower bed in zone 8b.

Looking for compliments as well as suggestions! 😂

Since this medium size bed was so hard to dig out and create, should I kill grass next time if attempting to create more? Should I hire it out? Is that crazy expensive? Will the salvia, mulhy grass, and Peggy Martin rose fill in the empty or do I need more? Will I be fighting Bermuda my whole life?!

Just wanted to share. I’m proud of myself.

Zone 8B - mix of some morning shade and some afternoon sun. Willing to make soil amendments. Sick of boxwoods! But need something that will complement and hopefully can add annuals in front of (willing to extend bed)
