I pass this house frequently as I work nearby, and I’ve always thought it looked quite charming and homey on the outside. So when it hit the market, I thought I’d take a peek at the listing and continue my daydreams about making a few little period-appropriate updates I was sure it needed… turning the barn into a music room or pottery studio… and now all I can think about is how this place must smell.

The “period” in question: sometime before flooring was standardized. Every room has a different floor. The ceilings are water-stained and actively buckling. The walls are warped. The listing calls this a “strong starting point for future improvements.” I’d call it a strong argument for future demolition (which pains me, as the exterior - at least from the street - is really quite nice.)
