The Cape, Alila Mayakoba, or PH Cabo
Like everyone else, we are trying to get something booked by May 19th. We only have around 100k points sitting around due to using them for our vacations this year. We have done Hawaii the last five years (including Maui coming this September), so we thought Mexico could be fun for a few days. This is likely not our huge trip of the year (although we are open to adding on to it as we get more points).
We have 2 and 4 year old (will be 3 and 5 at the time of travel). So far, they are very well behaved when we travel and love nothing more than eating room service breakfast, playing in the pool, and going out to dinner (They live a tough life...don't feel bad for them...they have also been to Disneyland and San Diego each year as well.) We are trying to figure out where to book to have something on the books. We have a suite upgrade award.
* For the PH, we would only be able to book 2 nights for now, which is not ideal. We could potentially split with the Cape, but moving hotels is a pain. We can eventually add nights, but I have no idea how much they will be.
* I have read such mixed thinks about the Cape with kids (I think ours would do great there, but I don't want people to angry we brought them). We can book three night on points and then potentially add one in cash.
* We would pay an upgrade at the Alila for a full suite (they will let us pay the difference between the SUA room and the upgrade). We have points for 4 nights and then might add one more in cash. It will also cost $290 a night for the full suite upgrade on top of the SUA.
We are leaning towards Mayakoba, but I want everyone's thoughts! Flying from Phoenix, so Cabo is closer but both flights are nonstop and closer than Hawaii! We are also open to other suggestions too!
Thank you in advance...I keep researching each hotel individually but am curious to get everyone's opinion!
