Hello :D
before starting, english is not my main lenguage, so this post may contain errors, and to add more, this is my first time worldbuild and posting.
One important thing, the beatiful art was made by NESHDARA you can find her on instagram and fiverr
let's start:
After 7 years of mastering Forgotten Realms, I decided it was time to create my own world. Since I prefer adventures to conspiracies and the like, I'm creating a world that's lush and alive, despite the destruction.
I've drawn inspiration from video games like Biomutants and the like, so i will introduce one of the 3 races of my world,
Introducing the Sandlings
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Native to desert areas around the world, Sandlings are a cross between cats and eagles.Their average height is between 70 and 90 cm. The body and limbs are predominantly feline. The aquiline part is most evident on the head. Where an aquiline beak fills the muzzle and feathers adorn the head. The tip of the tail is also made of feathers. Not always the same color as the head.
Fur colors are closely linked to desert areas, While the plumage is always very colorful.
CIVILIZATION
NOMADS
Sandlings tend to be very scattered, due to their wandering nature, Being small, they have no trouble finding places to stay,
so it is not uncommon to encounter nomadic clans.
These camps vary easily in size This aspect is closely linked to their curious nature and also to their religion.
STORY HUNTERS
In Sandling culture, it is important for an individual to embark on a journey in search of a "story."
This story is usually something physical, not necessarily valuable, but something the Sandling deems worthy of being a "STORY."
When a Sandling is satisfied with their discovery they return to their clan or join another. From this moment, they are promoted to STORY KEEPER.
By doing so, they allow their fellow Sandlings to embark on their journey.
When the Sandling deems the time has come,it will be their duty to return the object to the place where it was found,so as to bring its "STORY" to a close.
This often happens when a Sandling is nearing the end of its life cycle.
RELIGION
Sandling religion is based on the duality of their physical and mental beings.
Being feline, they tend to be curious, and their aquiline side drives them to travel and be active.
Many base their lives on these concepts, which is why sendlings are nomadic.
Another reason is the extreme importance of having a story to tell the Wandering Storyteller.
This figure is described as a sendling with sand-colored fur and plumage and a peaceful, calm presence. It is said that listening to her voice makes one forget all troubles.
Sendlings say she guides the soul back to the warm deserts and they know that there a new life and a new journey can begin.
During the return journey, like a mother guiding a lost cub,she asks the soul to tell her the story of its life, and the longer the story, the more time one can share with this pleasant figure.
RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS
Windchimes
Usually adorned with feathers and purple crystals
The winds passing through these chimes are believed to be the stories the storyteller shares with the living souls.
CRAFTS AND LANGUAGE
Sandlings are very versatile in their crafts,
since those who travel encounter other cultures, They do not excel in any particular craft. But within a clan, a wide variety of crafts can be found.
Sandling language closely resembles that of birds, sounds produced by clicking their beaks and chirping, only higher-pitched.
