I grew up watching the show to learn English, and on a recent rewatch, I noticed something interesting. Many of the 'nerdy' things the guys love, like Marvel and DC movies, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter etc, were treated as quirky, niche or nerdy by Penny at the time. However, these are very mainstream pop culture in the 2010s. Since the show started in the 2000s, I am curious had there been a shift in how 'nerd culture' is perceived in America?
