I’m pretty sure I have PCOS. My mom has it, I get dark hair on my chin and cheeks, I have mild acne (which I don’t think I should be having at 26), I had an ovarian cyst rupture a few years ago (genuinely the most painful experience of my life), and there are some signs of insulin resistance (darkening of skin folds), but I got my h1c tested and it’s still normal. I’m on a progestin-only birth control pill (the mini pill) and I don’t get a period at all on it.
I told my gynecologist all of this, and she said the only way to diagnose me was if I got off of my birth control pill. Is this really the only way? I’m not willing to get off of it at the moment because I don’t know what will happen hormonally/weight wise if I do.
