Hey I’m really curious to know what everyone’s pain levels were like before arthroscopy and labral repair surgery vs after.

I’m booked in for surgery June 4th however I have no day to day pain or pain during activities. The only pain I have is a sharp and aching pain if I force internal rotation. Which I never really do day to day. I have a cam and pincer and torn labrum, the surgeon recommends I get surgery to avoid causing more damage and therefore arthritis. But I’m scared the surgery itself will cause more long term pain and osteoarthritis.

Keen to hear your thoughts! I’m so 50:50!

28M and looking for opinions and advice from people who have had hip arthroscopy surgery.

My surgeon recommends I get surgery as I have a decent sized CAM and Pincer as well as a torn labrum on my left side.

However:

- I have no pain day to day or when exercising.

- Only pain is when I actually internally rotate my leg to the pinch point. Sharp pain, aches for a bit if I overdo it.

- I have been dealing with issues further down like post tibial tendonopathy and plantar fasciitis which I think may be cause buy the fact my femur sits naturally in an externally rotated position due to the morphology of my hip.

- I can also feel the asymmetry in my hips and back when I sit due to compensation.

The surgeon says if I don’t get the surgery I will continue to damage my hip to the point of arthritis.

My main concern is that I will get the surgery and go from being pain free to having pain or some kind of issue.

Has anyone else been in this situation? What was your experience? He seems to think it will all be completely fine and I will be much better off for it. Kinda sounds like he just wants my money though!
