Indeed search refuses to work.
I may start out in a unique situation which may not apply to most people, but I've been a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for 10 years.
Of course, I always see postings for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), and I don't have any idea how to filter this.
-SLP shouldn't do anything since it's in SLPA, but nothing works right.
Well, I finally got into, and finally graduated from a Speech-Language Pathologist program, and none of the places where I did rotations were hiring, so I'm looking for my first big boy Speech-Language Pathologist job.
Of course, I see lots of SLPA postings.
I just give them the thumbs down and they go away until new ones are posted.
Of course, searching for SLP postings show me Occupational and Physical Therapy, Family therapy, doctors, attorneys, Uber and Uber Eats drivers, shower aides, HVAC technicians, and all kinds of unrelated un\skilled jobs.
Either I wouldn't want it or I'm not qualified for it, but I'm qualified for lots of jobs, just show them!
Of course, one does not simply find an SLP job, I need to complete my Clinical Fellowship first, and lots of potential employers aren't willing to train new graduates.
I applied to all of the better SLP positions I saw and had a few interviews, but no offers, so I'm trying to focus on ones which mention the CF.
The thing is, until over a decade ago, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA, it doesn't make sense) called it the Clinical Fellowship Year, but since we can complete it in 9 months, but have 24 to finish, they just started calling it the CF.
Our professors made a big deal out of it and said that anyone still using the old term is out of touch, but what else is new?
I recently realized that "SLP" and "Speech-Language Pathologist" often have different results even though most job postings use both.
I've been searching with each term for the last several days in a row.
If I search for "Speech-Language Pathologist CF," it says "Slightly farther," three postings which do happen to mention CFs, and "Similar to jobs you explored," and 5 posts with no mention of CFs.
If I search for "SLP CF," it says "We didn't find any results for this search. Similar to jobs you explored" and 5 random jobs in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
Two happen to mention CF, but I'm sure that's a coincidence.
However, if I search for "Speech-Language Pathologist CFY," it shows 7 results allegedly within 25 miles, and then "Similar jobs recruiting nationwide," and a posting 24.5 miles away.
What drives me nuts is that some of these have "CF" in the description or even the title, but they don't show up under "CF," only "CFY" even though they don't say "CFY?!"
Well, I need to get to bed. I have an interview in the morning.
Good luck! :)
