Feet pain
Hi, I am having a problem with my 9 year old canary, Pilot, that started last week on thursday, so about 10 days ago.. it consists of two symptoms - lethargy, and great reluctance to using his feet, from what I observed especially his left one. I went to the vet, got an x-ray and I was told that he has an enlarged liver, and also hyperkeratosis, the vet gave me Silivet (milk thistle extract drops) and told me to try applying olive oil to his feet to soften up the scales. But neither has helped so far, he eats and poops much less than before, and spends most of his time laying in his food bowls or at the bottom of the cage, since that way he doesn't have to use his feet. He's not looking good.. I have 3 canaries of the same age as him, and while they all have hyperkeratosis to some extent, their feet are light pink, not purple-ish like his, and there are no red spots on their feet.. it doesn't look like bumblefoot to me (there doesn't seem to be that typical swollen scab thing on the pad of his feet), but I called the vet today and he suggested trying Baytril to see if it helps in case there is an infection. He does not think it is mites, plus I have had all of my canaries on S76 since october 2024 (I am following the treatment plan where you give it to them for two consecutive days each month, after the initial longer treatment). I'm having a very bad feeling about this... Have any of you had any experience with anything like this? Attached a few photos of his feet. Just two weeks ago, none of this was going on, and he was doing just fine..
