My newly purchased home needs a leaking shut off valve replaced, but the pipe coming out of the wall is larger than the standard 1/2" or 3/8" that valves are sold for. Do I use an extender or search far and wide for a shut off valve that will fit? Or is there another method. I've only looked in Lowe's for the valve. The house was built in 1957. TIA!
