I recently beat silk song >!(True ending)!< (after months of playing it on and off), so I can finally claim it as one of my favorite games!
However while playing through it I noticed a lot of similarities to one of my other favorite games (which silk song stole the slot from after completing it), that being specter of torment.
In fact aside from one boss, whose design drew me into the game, what kept me wanting to keep playing early on were Hornet's (with hunter's crest) mechanical similarities to Specter knight from specter of torment.
I can't exactly prove that SoT inspired Silk song in any way, but I feel like there has to have been some inspiration!
(Only thing really shooting me in the foot with that is the >!reaper crest, like I was dead set on that having some sort of reference to Specter knight, but no!<.)
So I made this graph about the main similarities I found between the two and also to ask if anyone noticed these similarities?
And if they did, had they enjoyed the game more because of that?
Because wow this game was so much more than just the spiritual metroidvania sequel to specter of torment.
AND that's saying something! Because that's the #1 game I've been waiting for for years!
