I just toured a place, but the guy showing it told me he requires the application fee to be through cashapp and a $1300 cash (as in paper money) holding fee. This seems outlandish to me, but his phone number does match the contact info on the business website and he had the keys.

Am I being paranoid thinking it might still be a scam in spite of all that? These seem like red flags, but I struggle to see how a scammer would have both the keys and a number matching a business with decent reviews. Are these just normalized practices now?
