I often hear people say they wish they could go back to being a kid, but I don’t think it’s really about childhood itself. It’s more about missing a time when life was simpler and most of the pressure wasn’t on you.

As a kid, you had less control, less freedom, and honestly less understanding of the world. But you also didn’t have to worry about bills, long-term decisions, or carrying the weight of your own life.

I think if people were actually sent back to childhood with their current awareness, they wouldn’t enjoy it nearly as much as they imagine. It’s not the age they miss, it’s the lack of responsibility.

I’ve never really understood the hype around celebrating something I didn’t actually accomplish. It’s just the day I was born, not something I worked toward or earned. I get why people enjoy it — it’s a good excuse to gather, celebrate, and feel appreciated — but personally it’s always just felt like any other day.

I still celebrate for others and I understand why it matters to them, but when it comes to my own birthday, I just don’t feel that excitement people talk about. It’s not that I dislike it, I’m just pretty indifferent.

I’m starting to think this might be more common than people admit, but it’s one of those things where there’s a social expectation to act excited even if you’re not.

I’ve noticed that people seem to fall into very different categories when it comes to this. Some feel completely recharged after spending time alone, while others start to feel drained if they’re by themselves for too long and need social interaction to feel better again.

Personally, I find it interesting how the same situation can have the opposite effect depending on the person. Even things like work, weekends, or stressful periods seem to change what people need.

I’m curious how it works for you—do you naturally lean one way, or does it depend on your mood, environment, or the people around you?

I’ve always wondered how memories are stored in the brain. It feels like a hard drive, but also very unreliable. Why do we remember some random moments clearly but forget important things so quickly? (and also if you have techniques to remember better 😄)
