Cost of nasal polyp (sinus) surgery in India?

Hi,

A family member is planning to undergo a nasal polyp surgery at Jehangir hospital, Pune and the bill estimate provided by the hospital seems insane for a 1-day surgery with a private room for INR 2.4.lakhs (plus INR 30,000 security deposit) ! Though he has a health insurance policy from New India Assurance covering for about INR 10Lakhs+ and has opted for a cashless claim, the admin told him that the health insurance company won't pay 100% of the amount. So before the hospital admin sent the file for processing he himself tried contacting the regional TPA office (Health Insurance TPA of India Ltd) but they too did not quote how much of the estimated amount would be covered under cashless.

Folks who have seen/undergone this kind of surgery, do you think this is too high a cost? how much did your health insurance company cover under cashless and how much did you pay out of pocket which was not reimbursed?

PS: did you see any relapse in the nasal polyp or sinus issue post surgery?
