I started running every day about 5 weeks ago, on my first attempt I set a timer and ran for 2:30 min before I had to stop. At 4 weeks, I was able to run for over 5 minutes without stopping.

I was super proud to have doubled my time! Yesterday my bf set out for his first run in about 2 years, and when he returned he said he "sucked" was "way out of shape" and could "only run 25 minutes before having to stop". I told him he did great but I secretly felt humiliated. To be clear, he was not trying to insult me or anything, and has been very supportive.

I need advice from runners- is there something wrong with my body to not be able to run longer than 5 minutes at this point? Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong? I'm running at a slow pace with walking breaks between when I run out of breath, it's about an hour a day. Is there a more optimal method for building stamina and strength? I thought I had found something and this whole time I'm not doing as well as I thought, and I'm embarrassed.
