Preschool teacher/aide Gift Etiquette
Hi everyone,
I’ve been an aide at a preschool for 2 years now as I advance my degree, and I really love it. Every year is a little different and every lead is too. But there is one thing I’ve noticed that seems strange to me, but it happens every year. So maybe it’s just the way things are?
Every Christmas, and end of the year, the lead gives each child a gift, or a goodie bag of gifts. the gift is never discussed with me and I’m never asked if I want to pitch in and have it be from the both of us. I end up feeling bad that the children receive these gifts and there’s nothing from me. So my plan is to do my own thing as far as gifts go from here on out, because I absolutely adore these kids. And I feel bad to give them nothing when the lead is giving them a bag filled with goodies.
Is this just typical protocol for the lead and the aide in preschool?
