Things I didn’t know:

  1. The nail hole in my new (<1kmi) gp5k front tire kept creating new flats in my TPU tubes. I didn’t know that relatively small hole was the problem but I was darn sure to solve it as this tire has a lot of future miles to give.
  2. The park tool tire boot isn’t a good solution for a variety of reasons - first, it doesn’t adhere well to the inside of the tire - second, it’s heavy and slightly wonky inside the tire.
  3. Gorilla tape works incredibly well. Adheres to the tire casing and doesn’t weigh too much. It also works well to patch tubes. You may all know this but I just learned it.

I’m not racing on this tire - I am in decent condition but by no means “A” tier - I am value and cost conscious as good tires are $100 a piece and I cannot afford to just throw them out with fewer than 1k miles on. If you have other great solutions please reply.
