Things I didn’t know:
- The nail hole in my new (<1kmi) gp5k front tire kept creating new flats in my TPU tubes. I didn’t know that relatively small hole was the problem but I was darn sure to solve it as this tire has a lot of future miles to give.
- The park tool tire boot isn’t a good solution for a variety of reasons - first, it doesn’t adhere well to the inside of the tire - second, it’s heavy and slightly wonky inside the tire.
- Gorilla tape works incredibly well. Adheres to the tire casing and doesn’t weigh too much. It also works well to patch tubes. You may all know this but I just learned it.
I’m not racing on this tire - I am in decent condition but by no means “A” tier - I am value and cost conscious as good tires are $100 a piece and I cannot afford to just throw them out with fewer than 1k miles on. If you have other great solutions please reply.
