I had a red maple (october glory) planted in my front yesterday. I had to leave for work when the landscaping company came to replace the dead maple. The tree looks sparse and leaves are droopy. It also seems like it has more than 1 leader. The staking looks good to me. But i do plan to remove the mulch around the trunk. Does the tree look healthy? How can i help make the leaves look better and should i do something about the multiple leader situation?
