Boudybuilding/Lifting and Soccer ?

Hello,

When I was younger, I played football; I was quite good at it and won championships as well as a few awards. Then I stopped, went to university and started going to the gym because I wanted to have an aesthetic physique (lean and muscular). Now I’m quite happy with my physique and have started playing football again. But I can’t play like I used to. I’m slower, have less stamina, am less agile, and after most games I have pain in my groin, and my thighs and calves are sore. I go to the gym four times a week (upper body and lower body) and play football twice a week.

How can I maintain my progress at the gym and still play like I used to? Has anyone of you managed this before? What should I change? is it even possible? Never have seen a really musculare and aesthetic looking dued playing soccer, who wasn't a professional.
