idk if this is something that happened a while ago, but apparently you can longer wirelessly transfer any screenshots or videos from the switch 1 at all. i just tried to transfer some images to my phone and was met with "screenshots and videos from this software cannot be sent to a smart device". since when was this a thing?
i remember finding out you could no longer post directly to twitter, and was disappointed but otherwise mostly unaffected. i just stopped posting stuff to twitter, really. sometimes i'd post stuff while backing up my screenshots, or if i particularly wanted to share it for some reason, but 90% of my sharing stopped when that feature was removed. despite this, i liked still being able to transfer things to my phone so i could send direct screenshots and videos to friends and communities and chat about the games i'm playing/ my specific gameplay. now, i can't even do that without physically plugging my switch into my pc and doing a wired transfer, which dead stops gameplay.
what's the point of even including the options in the menu, still? all to open a box that tells me i can't do it? why take screenshots and videos at all? it's not like i sit, scrolling through them for my own entertainment. it's either to remember something i might need later in a game i'm playing (puzzle hints that are in game and such, like in mario odyssey), or to share with others!
idk, finding this out just now when i wanted to transfer some things to share with friends who are playing the same game as me rn made me a little miffed. i had to take pictures of the screenshots and re-record the video with my phone just to share things. i even looked it up and was pointed to an app that apparently lets you, but when you download the app you're told to select the "send to smart device" option and scan the qr code that it shows...which is no longer what happens when you select "send to smart device".
am i missing something somewhere? was this update announced and i'm just way behind? admittedly, i fell off using my switch properly for like a year and am only just picking it up now because it's getting sunny and i want to play games while sat on the balcony, rather than staying inside on my pc. is there a way to transfer things wirelessly that i just haven't come across, or is it really impossible, now?
