Digital Diffusion vs. Glass: Scatter, DigiDiff, Nano, or Hazy?
Hi guys, I’m sort of transitioning from physical filters (Pro-Mists/Glimmerglass) to post-plugins for more flexibility, not these post diffusion is too good to ignore.
Looking for a perpetual license that actually mimics light physics.
Has anyone compared these head-to-head?
• Scatter (Video Village): The "pro" pick. Is the MTF/physics math worth the high price?
• DigiDiff (Kromatika): Seems great for specific filter emulations. How’s the halation?
• Nano (Greyscale Labs): Claims AI depth mapping. Does it actually feel volumetric or just gimmicky? Is the DaVinci cinematic haze close enough?
• Hazy (FilmConvert): Simple, but does it hold up for high-end work?
Two big questions:
How do these handle "dead" clipped highlights compared to real glass?
Does Nano’s depth mapping flicker on fast-moving subjects?
Trying to find the one that looks the most "organic" and least like a digital blur. Appreciate any feedback!
