Don't take it from me, take it from MAGA base camp.

I've had people state I am some NeverTrumper, fake Progressive, and all other sorts of nonsense. I am warning y'all if your candidate does not win in the Primaries, you will need to show up and vote Blue no matter who and bring people with you. You have been warned.

Republicans are right about somethings and we need to address it.

I am going to make a few statements that will likely piss people off, earn me a slew of downvotes, and is perfectly true and accurate.

Republicans won in 2024 because they turned out to vote at the ballot box. Point blank, period—full Goddammed Stop.

We know at minimum there were 19 million fewer voters for Kamala Harris in 2024 than for Joe Biden in 2020. In totality, there were approximately 90 million voters who did not vote aka stayed home in the 2024 election. Having looked in post after post on Facebook, X, Reddit, Bluesky, and Truth Social there is one common thread, Democrat voters refused to vote and are now bellyaching about it. In post after post, we see Republicans state outright that they only protest at the ballot box or with their vote. This is a fact. Except for Jan 6th and a few other times, we do not see Republicans protesting en masse.

Now, I am not stating that there is anything fundamentally wrong with protesting, on the contrary this is where I know Republicans have it wrong. Protesting is part of being a US citizen. It is our right to redress these grievances peacefully in the streets and in the halls of government, but that does not win elections. This is where it is clear that Democratic voters have failed to see that protests do not equal votes.

Trump won the swing states by slim margins, but he won them because Republicans are reliable voters en masse. From school boards and county commissioners to Presidential elections, Republicans show up. Yes, we can acknowledge all the obvious details about Republicans voting against themselves, and to their detriment, yada yada yada. But what does that get us? It gets us a Trump Presidency. It gets us the most conservative Supreme Court in history. It led to Voting rights being redistricted out of existence without actually ending them directly. We need to face facts, while we can say MAGA has the day they voted for, we can also say to Dem voters have the day you didn't vote for, and the day you earned (through complacency.)

So how do we take back control? It isn't just voting, it is also having a plan (like Project 2025) in place and working on propaganda. Mamdani has shown that having a plan works, getting in the trenches works, and connecting with people works. Iran (despite how we feel about it) has also shown how propaganda when true works to an advantage. Bear with me here.

I learned growing up and going to school in the 80s & 90s that the US took ideas from around the globe, adopted them, and made them our own by tweaking the ideas to the US/American Way of life. We brought immigrants in from all corners of the globe, broke bread with them, learned about their shared values, and cultural heritage & differences. We co-opted those that fit into the broader US framework while leaving those others out, yet allowing a majority of it to be practiced at home out of the public square. 9/11 changed that and Republicans took advantage of the fear that now grasped the nation, and they poisoned us with it.

Now here we are, coming up on 25 years since that tragic day our world changed forever. Where we were once united, even under W., we are now the most divided since just before the Civil War. Both sides are responsible for it, hell, I'll admit it, I am just as guilty as the next. For several years, anytime I'd see a truck I automatically assumed that the driver was MAGA. I no longer trust guys that look like me, white guys, because I don't feel like I fit their mold of being a MAGA Trumper. I don't always trust Veterans because so many fell for the lies Trump told, they bought his propaganda. He used the Republicans' playbook of capitalizing on fear and bent it to his will. OK, but where am I going with this tangent?

It all comes back to complacency, voter apathy, and perceptions. Democratic voters are compassionate yet they are also complacent. We will go out and march in the streets, hold rallies, and talk til we are blue in the face and yet so many stay home when it counts most; so many don't vote. There was plenty of reason to vote for others in 2024, especially as it pertained to Ukraine, Gaza, AIPAC, and other such moral stands. Big picture it was also our downfall.

What is apparent, at this time, we need to be the change from within the system. We need to hold our noses as I have for both Hilary and Biden to get to where we can make changes. Anyone from the Detroit area can relate to this analogy. There is a certain stretch of the 75, that has the distinct odor of sulfur and/or rotten eggs. While there are undoubtedly ways to travel to get around it, those ways are costly because the detour is too far to be worth it in gas money. It is better just to drive through it and deal with the stink so we can get where we are going in a faster more cost-effective time. We need to, as Democratic voters do the same.

Republicans will tow the party line regardless, while demanding Democrats stick to their principles and put up with whatever because they depend on our apathy and complacency. It is time to break that cycle, and it will take some time to do so. The best time to start is now, with the Mid-Term Primaries. Check your voter registration, help others get registered, vote, and encourage those around you to vote. Stick to the pocketbook/dinner table issues, craft the argument for voting to the person you are talking to. Leave woke conversations to those who are best suited and equipped with the knowledge and details to present those ideals and morals. Lastly, don't make it just about Trump. Make it about everything around him without ever mentioning his name. Now what does the Democrat candidate stand for in your area. If it is too much to remember have a voters' guide for your area at the ready. So you can refer to it.

We cannot allow another cycle of Democrats and Democratic voters to not vote again. Not because it is imperative for Democrats as a party, but because the only way we can effect change in politics at this time, especially in Suburban and rural areas is from the inside.

Here is to restoring the US to a more democratic less authoritarian way of life. Here is to breaking the walls of the divide, repairing the broken ties that bind, and to breaking the hold hatred has on this nation.
