I got scammed trying to buy Accessibilty ticket for The Cure on here

I feel like an idiot

Just a warning to anyone buying concert tickets through Reddit, especially for The Cure in Belfast.

I put a message on here and someone DM'd me to offer me a ticket. I agreed to buy a ticket from someone and paid them using Revolut. I had not used it before and had to set it up.

After the payment was sent, they then started insisting that I send a screenshot of the payment rather than simply confirming receipt in their account.

I refused, as they should already be able to see the payment arrive themselves. It immediately started to feel suspicious. Once I refused that was the end of the sale.

I have reported them as fraud and hopefully get my money back. It was £80 from my PIP. I should get it in 5 days according the Revolut.

Just a reminder to everyone:

  • Be careful buying tickets through Reddit or social media.
  • Use official resale or buyer-protected methods where possible.
  • Don’t send extra information or screenshots containing personal/payment details.
  • If something feels off after payment, trust your instincts.

Hopefully this helps someone avoid getting caught out.

What will happen now as the Judge recused herself.

Bit of an unexpected twist yesterday! I turned up for my hearing, in which I was representing myself, having prepared for months. The judge then read the evidence bundle for my civil claim against the police, she then realised that she was the exact same judge who convicted me in the original criminal case… the conviction that was later quashed.

Needless to say, that was awkward for everyone involved.

I genuinely didn’t know what would happen procedurally at that point. Does the judge normally recuse themselves automatically in that situation? Will the case now have to be transferred to a different court or just relisted before a different judge?

The judge looked a little red-faced when it clicked. I suppose it’s one of those situations where you can prepare for a lot in litigation, but you can’t plan for everything.

Interested to hear if anyone else has ever seen something similar happen.

Who can you use as references?

I am just wondering who can use as references? Does anyone know what the policy and procedure for references is? I have provided a personal and employment reference but don't know any professionals that I can use. I am not religious so don't know any pastor. Haven't seen or spoken to registered Dr in years.

Unfortunately I suffer from socio-phobia and don't have any friends I can ask. I just need a big list of who I can ask.

Thanks

I currently have a civil claim ongoing against the PSNI relating to wrongful arrest and false imprisonment. I’ve been very careful to keep my account completely accurate. I haven’t exaggerated anything because I know that if I’m caught out on even a small detail, it could undermine the whole case.

Last year I served a Letter Before Claim. As expected, their solicitors responded denying liability. What’s concerning is that their response includes an account of events that I know to be untrue.

For example, they claim I resisted officers and had to be handcuffed. That didn’t happen. I was fully cooperative throughout, precisely because I didn’t want to escalate the situation or create a negative impression. They also say I tried to block their entry into my home, which is false. They asked to come in and I agreed without issue.

Unfortunately, the officers didn’t activate their body worn cameras, so there’s no footage. It’s essentially my word against theirs.

My question is: is it appropriate or advisable to write back to the police solicitors and put them on notice that their client’s account is inaccurate, so they can review their position? Or is that something that should be left entirely to the formal litigation process?

I was wondering who everone is supporting in the World Cup, as Northern Ireland and Ireland have not qualified. I will mostlikely support our Celtic cousins in Scotland.
