New to Thunderbird: Help with my emails workflow
Hi all, I'm new to Thunderbird and more complex email management. Please help me understand a few points which are not clear to me.
I recently decided to move away from Google in general, and want to migrate from gmail to proton mail and I want to setup Thunderbird as an email manager.
What my email worflow looks like now:
1: Gmail account that receives most emails
2: University email on their own hosting and web interface.
3: My gmail account imports the university emails through POP3. (Sadly gmail will disable this function in the near future)
4: I managed everything from within my gmail.
What I want my email worflow to look like now:
1: Proton mail is my main email
2: Gmail auto forwarding all received email to proton mail, so that I continue receiving emails sent to the gmail.
3: I add proton mail in Thunderbird
4: I add my university email to Thunderbird through IMAP or POP3 (sadly my university email does not allow auto forwarding).
5: Thunderbird creates a copy of emails received by my university email in my proton mail.
6: Now I have all email being saved in my proton mail.
(As proton mail can't import my university email by itself, I plan on having an always on Thunderbird instance which would import the email and then I'd be able to see them from my proton mail app in android)
Is this a possible worflow?
Also, I still want to be able to send emails as my gmail and university email, but have a copy of sent email saved in my proton mail. Is this possible to do automatically in Thunderbird?
A few questions about email sending and receiving replies:
1: Can I send emails from my gmail from within Thunderbird without importing all my emails through IMAP? So that I'd only see the emails through my proton mail inbox.
2: If someone replies to my gmail, when gmail auto forwards the reply to my proton mail, will proton mail recognize that as a reply to the email I sent and Thunderbird copied over to proton mail?
Any advice is welcome.
