Suggestions for getting security wiring into door strike.

Hey all, I just want to preface this with I am an electrician and the work's already been done, just wanted some insight from someone who might've done this before since it was our first time doing security as it's usually handled by another company.

Doing some work in a mixed commercial office+warehouse back-office. They wanted door security for some existing doors which were steel framed/doors. No way to access the tops of the doors from the T-bar ceiling as the drywall was run up for about 2-3' above the T-bar and we didn't want to compromise that much drywall to drill. What we ended up doing is drilling from where the strike goes up into the bottom of the header with a 54" HSS bit.

Just curious for those that do security regularly if this is the typical solution or if there are other options we didn't think of. Thanks!
