1984 F150 project; she’s alive fellas

Only took a new battery, solenoid, fuel filter, fuel tubing, 2 bottles of Royal Purple, and a whole lotta carb cleaner. Idle sounds high, but baby steps here 👍🏼

1984 Bullnose 302 Windsor swap

Complete newbie here but so far, I’ve replaced the solenoid, got a new battery and it cranks and turns over when I sprinkle some gas into the carburetor. Did a fuel line test and got no fuel coming out, so I’m assuming it’s a fuel pump or filter issue. Issue is I do not know where or what the difference in what to look for to differentiate them. I took a photo of both sides and saw what LOOKS like a possible filter. Any advice?

1984 F150; this popped and started smoking when installing a new battery

Take into consideration, I am brand new to a lot of this and learning from trying something, fucking up, trying things I learned in the internet, then doing it again 👍🏼 anyways, that little black housing unit that is mounted onto the wall; I bought a new battery (exact one is used to have) and when I plugged it in, that little housing unit popped and started smoking heavily immediately. Can anyone please fill me in on 1.) what that contraption is, 2.) what possibly happened, and 3.) what does it burning mean for further restoration?

**Update: my dumbass got excited and flipped the terminals.

1984 F150 - what am I looking at? (Complete newbie)

Remove if not allowed, but I am starting the process of my first truck restoration since 1.) I have a primary work vehicle and use my wife’s car for any personal use, 2.) I want to learn more about trucks and vehicles so I figured I’d get my hands dirty and learn by application, and 3.) I’d rather spend money on an owned restored truck with character than a car note. The issue is that my dad had it sent to a distant family member who regularly does engine and transmission swaps and upon arrival, this is what I got in the engine bay. I think it’s a 302 Windsor? But other than that, I do not know what I have or what is missing. Looks like something in the passenger side corner even melted. Note that the battery is currently charging and I have not had it turn over yet, but apparently it did several months ago when the motor was initially swapped. Feel free to ask questions or give any info or advice!
