2002 Suzuki DR-Z400S Weak power at middle revs
New to me bike. Running well when I got it.
Problems began when I started running out of gas on the highway (somewhat planned, wanted to see how many miles). Switched to reserve, was rough running. Filled up and kept having some issues.
Main symptom now: weak or no power in the same middle rev range. It starts up and idles great, and makes good power wide open.
My best guess: there was some gunk in the bottom of the tank they got sucked up when I switched to reserve.
I've drained the tank, replaced the petcock (it was old and the screen was cracked), took apart the carb and cleaned the jets (twice now), replaced the rubber diaphragm, replaced the spark plug.
After my second attempt that cleaning the carb, I did find One of the Jets (pilot jet?) partially blocked. Used carb cleaner and compressed air. It's running slightly better now, but still has an obvious rev range that it's not happy. Lots of deceleration pops in that range as well
