building trail at a state park near San Antonio, TX and stumbled across this plant. it was marked with a pink flag by an herbologist (herbalist?) and we were told to avoid damaging it or the roots. im not even entirely sure this is a tree or shrub, but i cant seem to find anything like it online. does anyone know what this plant could be?
