Help me name 2 gremlins - 2017 R1200R
Hi y'all, so my 2017 R1200R is getting close to 100k kilometres now and there are 2 intermittent issues that make me worried.
Sometimes when starting the engine, the starter motor whines a bit and then dies. All the while, the dash flashes painfully and an icon that looks like a rear shock or the starter motor itself (it's a cylinder) in a circle shows on the dash in the warnings section. But this happens so fast I can't describe it better for you, nor do I have a picture. The whole experience is similar to when I had an old, low battery. But I've got a new one in now. I carry a jump starter pack with me at all times as well and even with that, the issue happened once the last time. I found that my clock has stopped for the 2 minutes I was experiencing this issue the last time. So it seems battery related somehow. If I switch the ignition off and on again a few times, it starts up like normal usually and then this doesn't happen again for some time. It makes me very anxious though as this could get me stranded. Any ideas what this could be?
When the oil is hot enough and the cooling fan comes on, sometimes the low oil light blinks on at the exact same time. This usually happens in slow moving traffic. The oil level is well inside the circle. I topped it up yesterday to be slightly above the middle in the circle, yet this happened again while riding. The difference is that this time the warning went away. In the past, once it came on, it only went away if I cycled the ignition. Faulty sensor? What do you think?
