I just made the switch from base arch using Hyprland to CachyOS with Niri. The installation went smooth, but I'm having some issues with audio. When connecting my headset (EPOS H3 PRO) over bluetooth the audio playback is glitchy, stutters and muted half the time. It almost sounds like being under water. I tried the same headset wired, and while it's still silent a lot of the time (and has the signature hum of a bad jack connection), the audio is clear.
Coming from a system where everything is configured by me, I don't quite know where to start. What little I know of Ubuntu I was expecting to see a similar "settings" application facilitating easy configuration of the preinstalled applications and tools? So far I've only found the Noctalia settings panel, but this seems mostly dedicated to configuration of the immediate UI, with no pipewire/pulseaudio options in the audio tab. Truth be told I'm not even sure which of the two is configured, as I haven't done anything myself save looking at what packages were installed. Same thing with users; is there no cachy-way of adding users? Do I just `useradd` as normal and manually add groups and install the DE for the new user?
I'd love some guidance on how to approach CachyOS with Niri. Is it mostly a preconfigured set of dotfiles, rather than an actual DE? I'm struggeling to understand how the system is intended to be used. Of course I'm aware I can just configure stuff as I wish, but I'd like to try the intended way first.
And if anyone has any insight on the audio-issue I'd love some help. I know I included two very different topics in this post, but I feel they're kinda interlaced in that I don't know my way around CachyOS.
Thank you in advance for any and all answers!
System information (desktop computer):
OS: CachyOS x86_64
Kernel: Linux 7.0.3-1-cachyos
WM: niri 26.04 (Wayland)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (12) @ 4.65z
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT [Discrete]
Memory: 16 GiB
Motherboard: ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING
Edit: If it provides any value, I uploaded a cachyos-bugreport here
Edit 2: The audio issue over bluetooth is present in offline games as well, and thus I don't believe it's a result of a problematic codec. I tried blocking AV1 on youtube but it still sounds... bubbly? Watery? No change when disabling WiFi
Edit 3: I tried some more things. Attaching the jack to the motherboard, rather than the jack on the case helped with the hum. Strangely (or maybe not so?), connecting over bluetooth and using the wireless audio device while having the AUX connected between the headset and computer fixes all the watery sound issues. If I unplug the jack, the sound stays on the same audio device (bluetooth) but degrades significantly (becomes watery).
