Can’t renew or upgrade GeForce NOW subscription after failed payment
I’m having a weird issue with GeForce NOW payments/subscriptions and I can’t figure out how to fix it.
On April 8 I paid for my subscription. During the month I used all 100 hours and also bought two additional 15-hour packs.
When the next payment date came, the payment failed because I forgot to add money to my online payment card. I got this message:
“Action required! Update your default payment method by May 8, 2026 to keep your premium membership, including add-ons when applicable, active. Otherwise, your membership will be automatically downgraded to Free.”
I updated the payment method literally 5 minutes after the failed payment, but now all payments on my account seem to be locked.
I cannot:
- change my subscription plan
- buy additional hours
- upgrade to Ultimate (the button is just greyed out)
And I see this error whenever I open the page to purchase additional playtime.And I see this error whenever I open the page to purchase additional playtime.
Inside the app it still says:
“Next payment: May 9, 2:59 AM”
But that time already passed and there were no new payment attempts. The same date/time is still displayed on the account page.
I already tried:
- switching the subscription to Free and back to Performance
- updating the payment method again
Nothing changed.
Is there any way to manually trigger the payment again or fix this bug? Has anyone experienced this before?
