Normal dosage for a dental X-ray? (Radiacode 110)

Hello there! Today I had to get a dental x-ray, and obviously I took my Radiacode with me.

I was surprised by the amount of radiation detected by the device, or in other words, how much was scattering from the x-ray machine. I always assumed they were designed to produce a very precise and localized beam with minimal "leakage." The Radiacode was in my pocket at waist level.

In the image, the first peaks (from left to center) were detected in the waiting room. The latest peaks (from center do right) were from my x-ray exam.

Are these readings normal for that kind of exam?

Seria o ideal?

- Rodateto

- Pintura das paredes

- Piso vinílico

- Mobiliário cozinha e banheiro

Hello there! I finally managed to get my hands on a Radiacode here in Brazil. The first thing I noticed was how the sensitivity is on a completely different level compared to my FS-5000. While my cheap geiger gets about 15-25 counts per minute, the Radiacode hits around 18 counts per second just on background radiation. A completely different tool, I see.

My first real measurement was on a piece of apatite. I got a nice spectrum after about 2 hours of exposure, averaging 40 CPS over the sample.

I also want to thank everyone in this community, you guys really inspired me to dive into this hobby!
