Hello. I (29F) am a 1st-gen Mexican-American who grew up speaking both English and Spanish. I consider myself not just fluent in both, but natively bilingual. As credentials go, I'm a certified English-Spanish medical interpreter, and have experience teaching English as a second language in Mexico. I'm looking for conversation partners in two different languages: Portuguese and Japanese.

I currently get IRL Portuguese practice with my Brazilian coworkers, but I'm about to move somewhere with a smaller immigrant population, and want to continue improving at a solid clip. I have a strong grasp of grammar and sentence structure, and can speak at length on a variety of subjects, provided a bit of tolerance for the gaps in my vocabulary.

My Japanese is much less advanced. I have a small study group of non-native speakers, but would appreciate the guidance a more advanced speaker could offer.

I'm willing to work over text basically all day long, provided that we are patient with response time/okay with asynchronous communication. Ideally I would like to get out-loud speaking practice about once a week, but this isn't strictly necessary.

My interests lie in athletics, world cinema, heavy metal and LGBT subcultures. I'm married, and I moonlight as a martial arts teacher. If I sound like someone you'd like to learn with, please reply to this post or send me a message!
