In 2025 I decided to fight my seven year porn addiction, (21M) it was super difficult but I did a crazy amount of research and this is what helped for me and might work for some of you fighting the same thing.
Figure out the ques that make your habit come out. Mine was usually boredom so whenever I felt the urge I got up and went to the gym or played a game or started reading.
Delete social media. Deleting snapchat was like the biggest thing in the world that helped because all that snapchat does on its public stories or its quick feed is show half naked woman- it is super annoying. But that fed into my temptation. Eventually I also got rid of instagram for the same reason.
Write about your temptations or when you relapse. Pretty simple but talk about how you feel when you do relapse and what you think is going on? What emotions or things are you doing to trigger it.
Make it harder to gain access to that stuff- wether it be parental locks or downloading apps on your phone that limit stuff like that.
Think about what you are watching- I saw this video once where it talks about when you watch porn you are literally pleasuring yourself over another man's success. Crazy to think about but it is true.
Do not go cold turkey... this sucks- but all addictions need to be fought with slow progress. I am reading Atomic Habits right now and I think the best way to describe it is to get 1% better everyday.
