I created a full visualization of all McDonald’s locations in the United States using a structured geospatial dataset (13,700+ stores with coordinates).
Each location is plotted individually as a lightweight point marker to preserve detail without clustering or aggregation.
The goal was to keep the raw spatial distribution visible rather than smoothing it into a heatmap or state-level summary.
A few things that stand out:
- Strong clustering in major metro areas
- Large empty regions across rural states
- Clear population-driven distribution patterns
The dataset behind this is part of a larger structured location database I work on.
