No joke.
Dog, 4 1/2, Neutered, Australian Cattle Dog mix with American Bully, ~62 lbs, positive medical history, no issues noted by both vets he has seen throughout his life. He pees nonstop and drinks water nonstop. Had him in FL for 4 years, currently in MN.
Okay so, I've had my dog since he was about 8 - 9 wks old, he was neutered when I got him. It was a task to potty train him because he just absolutely refused to use the bathroom outside the first month of having him. Would take him out 30 - 45 minutes at a time and he'd just stop dead in his tracks and lay down regardless of me trying to walk him. He would come right inside and pee and poop EVERYWHERE. Like a lot. Eventually, he went to stay with my parents and he figured out that he needed to pee and poop outside. However, even after using the bathroom outside, he'd still come inside a pee everywhere. Eventually my living situation got sorted out and I took him back. He peed like crazy when I got him back. Figured it was a territorial thing since he had been moved to new environments, worked on taking him out more.
Here's the thing, this has been an issue for years at this point. He pees NONSTOP. You can take him outside ten times a day, an hour at a time, and he'd still come inside and pee somewhere. Not only that, but my husband and I have counted the amount of times he pees outside and today we hit up to 20 pees, consistent streams, not little squirts.
When I first moved in with my husband, he peed everywhere all the time and drank nonstop. He is very water motivated, sometimes disregarding food for water. If you gave this dog a water fountain, he would NEVER stop drinking. We had to cut back his access to water. We started mixing his water and food up so he wouldn't sit there and make himself sick by slopping down on water nonstop. Even when we cut back his water intake, he still has an extra piss reserve somehow. I'm talking this dog is turning a cup of water into 5 gallons of pee.
We finally figured something is wrong with him. Theorized it may be his kidneys. Nope. Took him to the vet in September of 2025 and they took $660 from us just to say he's perfectly healthy. No issues at all. No diabetes, no pre-diabetes, no kidney issues, nothing. Suggested it was a behavioral issue. However, have an infinite supply of pee does not seem like a behavioral issue to us. We wanted a second opinion, but did not have another $660 to cough up and felt very defeated after that. So, after today of noting 20 or more consistent, solid piss streams, we are confused and are looking for anything at this point. We are willing to take him to the vet again, but we want to know where to start. I have never had a dog with this issue before. We take him and our other dog out 2 - 3 times a day anywhere between 30 - 60 minutes, he will sit there and pee every 2 - 3 minutes, while she will only pee twice in a 30 minute period. Genuinely we think something is wrong with him and this has been an issue for awhile and I'm confused how this can be normal or healthy.
