This position is designed for individuals working towards advanced post-graduate research training in Urologic Oncology. This may include recent graduates of medical schools or candidates who have completed their Urology Residency.
The Research Fellow conducts research projects in Urologic Oncology, with a specific focus on utilizing health-services research methods in the analysis of large data-sets. The fellow will gain experience in a wide array of observational data analysis tools and practical application of these methods in projects focused on Genito-urinary malignancies and surgical outcomes. The fellow is expected to actively participate in designing new protocols and overseeing ongoing clinical research projects, both observational and prospective. There will also be a specific focus devoted to clinical trials as well as translational projects.
Fellows will be supported by experienced faculty (Drs. Raj Satkunasivam, Christopher Wallis and Alexandre Zlotta) who have supervised over 20 such research fellows, many of whom have gone on to Urology Residency and now hold Faculty Positions. There will be ample opportunity for collaborative, multi-disciplinary projects through Sinai Health and UHN/Princess Margaret Cancer Center and close clinical integration. The fellow will be expected to present their work at National and International Meetings such as the SUO, GU ASCO or CUA/AUA as part of a process towards peer-reviewed publications as First Author.
This one-year position is funded at the Ontario Post-Graduate Residency PGY-3 Salary Level and includes benefits. International Medical Graduates (MD or equivalent) and current or recent medical students are also encouraged to apply.
