Archive to search for classical music
Hey everyone,
sorry if that question has been asked before but I am new in the sub and couldn't find anything related so far.
I am looking for databases to find classical pieces by giving specific information about it.
The following I know about:
https://www.musipedia.org
Lets you find a piece by searching for a melody.
https://www.pianolibrary.org
Let's pianists search for piano pieces by difficulty (although subjective by the creators but still fantastic database)
https://www.classicalarchives.com
Although payed but I guess can be a great source especially for beginners to find a way into classical music by looking for specific genres and "important" pieces (don't like to call it that way but don't know how to say it in English..) Gotta admit that I never used it myself.
Of course Wikipedia can sometimes be great but as it is not meant for a specific purpose in music it is not easy to find what you are looking for all the time.
What I am now looking for is to search for musical pieces by time signature and by tempo.
So i.e. I want to have all 2/4 pieces or movements by Ravel. I know this is already quite difficult as a lot of pieces have changing time signatures but I guess you could work around that by listing all the time signatures a piece has.
Same goes for tempo. I would love to look for all Ravel pieces written in vif tempo.
Do you have any ideas where to find something like this? Does it exist? imslp.org is of course great to look through all the available scores yourself but such search function would be fantastic.
If not feel free to still comment your favourite musical databases when it comes to classical written music!
