Xbox Ally X & Steam Controller Quirks
Anyone else get a Steam Controller? I knew going in that it's mainly compatible with Steam so my gripes here aren't anything unexpected. Just kind of annoying / frustrating to get it working outside of Steam (again, expected) but figured I'd post to see if anyone else has a workaround:
-Main complaint is that the Steam button on the controller opens Big Picture mode in Steam and there's no way to remap it to act like the Xbox button to open the game bar. Not really sure there's a way around this one as I believe it was an issue with the original Steam Controller as well.
-Non-Steam games are annoying to work with. Typically, you'd add as a Non-Steam Game to your library and then the controller should work. However, that's not always the case. I found SISR can help, but then you can't use the button mappings for those games.
I still like the controller despite these weird quirks. If non-Steam games were a bit easier and you could more easily remap the Steam button, it'd be great to have for use in docked mode, particularly because of the trackpads. Hopefully over time the controller becomes a bit more flexible outside of Steam but I knew going in what to expect.
