I graduated in 2024 with an Econ degree from a t10 school and it took me ~2 years to get this job in project finance. It’s for a smaller company so less structured. I was hired to work with the finance team but it’s been a month and all I have been doing is scanning sheets for them. I have tried to be proactive and ask them how can I best learn to get more involved but they don’t give me a concrete answer or say they’re slammed with projects and as soon as things cool down, will let me know. I’m just worried because I have been struggling if I an even cut out for finance so I don’t know if I’m wasting my time or if I should wait it out and see if things get better. I just think I’m wasting more time- even when I “wasted” two years looking for job. I don’t know if this is the world trying to tell me something or if I’m just facing a hurdle. I just feel so behind all of my college peers who graduated with fancy jobs. I have also had concerns about ai and whether I should ditch this field and go back to school for something (like engineering) but I don’t know. I guess I’m just looking for advice ?
