Hi, non-accounting graduate here with 6+ years working experience outside of accounting. Realized na my profession wasn’t for me and I wanted to start in the accounting department and grow my long-term career there.

I just want to express how thankful I am for a company na nagbigay ng opportunity sakin to start without direct accounting background. Grabe yung saya ko because finally I can start this before I pursue my plans of taking an Accountancy 2nd degree, give me a snippet of what the profession is about before I pursue further studies.

Sa mga accounting diyan, do you think the transition will be hard or meron ba stigma sa workplace for non-accounting professionals in accounting positions? 🥺 Aside from my overflowing happiness that I will be starting this position in June, there is worry at the back of my mind that there will be discrimination. I personally don’t like conflict in the workplace. I am confident that in terms of numbers, my engineering background has really sharpened me to be precise and accurate about numbers and critical analysis. But I also understand that accounting is a whole different world than engineering. Binabaon ko lng talaga is yung huge appetite ko to learn new things and my love and curiosity to know accounting more than the surface level (barely surface) na I know about it from tasks I had in my previous jobs.

For those in this field, any advise will do ☺️

Thank you!

I just received a job offer from this company. This is my dream company and I am 100% sure I’d accept the job for what they are initially offering me just to get in.

But ganahan ko mutry ug negotiate lang to see if I can get a bit higher that the current offer. I did try to ask politely via email about a specific net amount I am hoping to get. They replied with a breakdown of other benefits in the offer that would amount to closer to what I am asking but only in gross pay. Gusto unta ko mureply to ask one last time, respectfully, if we can get to the net amount I am asking.

Do you think naay possibility nga iwithdraw nila ilang offer if I send this final ask? Sa mga naay experience negotiate salary sa lexmark please advise huhu

Hi,

Nag apply diay ko sa accounting department sa Lexmark and nagpasaad na ang hiring manager na I will receive the job offer after sa final interview, I just have to wait. Below is the timeline:

April 9 - initial interview

April 10 - final interview

April 14 - received the HR email to fill out an online application through the avature portal. Notified the hiring manager about it and he replied verbatim “The next step is your JOB offer. pls allow 1 week TAT”

April 15 - “Offer Prep” Status sa portal

April 22 - “Offer” Status sa portal

April 24 - followed up via email sa hiring manager regarding the offer and he told me i should’ve already received it yesterday (April 23) and to see if I will receive it within the day and let him know if I don’t (I didn’t and notified him on April 25 but it’s saturday so he must have been on his dayoff)

Now I’m just waiting till mag monday na for his reply maybe there’s some issue about the email etc. kaya I didn’t receive it but today I checked the portal again and when I go to my profile, my application is still there. You know knang ig adto gani nimo sa “My profile” sa avature diba mushow mana imo giapplyan na position dha then and status? Krn kung muadto ko sa My profile “Offer” gihapon ang status but when I click “View detail” sa position na ako giapplyan muana na sya “An error has occured”.

I tried going back sa search jobs and searched the position, wala na sya sa jobs. I know because ang ref number sa job position wala na sa list, naa similar positions but lahi ug ref number.

Now I was supposed to wait lng unta nga magmonday for an update but now I’m worried. I didn’t receive any JO after all so there’s really no guarantee I’m getting the role despite what the manager told me—there was no contract yet. I stopped applying na sa other companies after ngpasaad ang hiring manager na JO nlng jd akong hulaton ky sa Lexmark/Xerox sd ko gnhan muwork. I was confident I’d get it but now I’m questioning if I just spent those weeks waiting for nothing.

Sa mga nkaexperience ani, mangayo kug advise please. Nag overthink ra ba ko? Possible ba jud na even if “Offer” na imong status ireject gihapon ka in the end maybe because after careful deliberation nila they suddenly decided to give the job to another candidate?

Thank you in advance.
