I am a mechanical engineer in the US and our molder has just sold their business and the buyers aren’t interested in keeping our contracts. We have over 100 tools that will need to be moved, plus new parts that need to be made. Sizes of parts range from smaller than an 1” and up to 18” in length. quantities range from 100-5000 / year. Needing to stay in the US.
Sadly the sourcing team at my company will be making the final decision, but I can make recommendations. I have looked into Quickparts and Fathom, waiting to hear from them. We have a lot of secondary operations (drilling, glueing, etc.) that our guy was doing for us that I’m not sure many other places would honor.
What other companies do you think could handle this type of job in a good timeframe and keep good communication? Does anyone have experience with a situation like this? Are there any companies that I should absolutely NOT go to or shoot down if sourcing wants to go that way?
would really appreciate any input on this
