Will Patriot Get More Appreciation After Its OTT Release?

Will Patriot Get More Appreciation After Its OTT Release?

As someone who watched Patriot on opening day in theatres, I had a strictly average experience overall. The response during the theatrical run was mostly mixed to negative, but these days there’s a trend where movies that got positive reviews in theatres end up getting bashed after OTT release. So I was wondering, could the opposite happen with Patriot? Is there a chance it might receive more appreciation once it reaches OTT?

For me, only around 4–5 scenes really worked well:
- The interval scene
- The hospital scene
- The car chase
- M & L’s first meeting and handshake
- Even the street light sequence, though a bit over-the-top, gave a good theatrical experience

Overall, the movie felt like an age-old story with somewhat good making. We all know we shouldn’t expect typical mass moments from MN, but since M & L were reuniting after such a long time, fans naturally expected something more impactful. It felt like there should have been a stronger reason for them to choose this project as their reunion film.

What do you all think? Do you think Patriot will get a better response after its OTT release?

I feel like Sam C. S. is genuinely strong when it comes to background scores, but pretty average when it comes to songs. His tracks are very hit or miss—some work really well, while many don’t leave much impact.

At the same time, I’ve noticed in multiple interviews that he tends to criticize or take indirect digs at other composers, especially Anirudh. That feels a bit unnecessary.

A lot of people (including me at times) say he’s underrated. But is he really? He gets quite a number of projects every year, so it’s not like he’s being ignored by the industry.

Yet, he often comes across as someone who’s dissatisfied or complaining in interviews. That contrast is what confuses me.

So I’m curious—do you think he’s actually underrated or is it more about inconsistency?

Mohiniyattam Deserves More Love

I don’t know why this movie didn’t collect as much as some of the other releases. It was a super hit and had a decent collection, but it still deserved much more. After a long time, I laughed out loud so much while watching a movie.

I watched it in theatres when it released and rewatched it on Netflix today. The dark humour worked perfectly and the casting was spot on. Everyone did a great job making the audience laugh.

This movie deserves more love and appreciation.
