My dermatologist actually told me this, and I thought it was really good info so I wanted to share it with you guys!

Has anyone else had their skin go all red and feel like the barrier is super weak, then tried a ceramide, cholesterol, and fatty acid cream only for it to get even more irritated? You might think your skin just doesn’t like those barrier creams, but sometimes that’s not the real problem.

Those ceramide creams are great at replenishing missing lipids, but they can also lock in moisture, active ingredients, and all that built up heat inside the skin. That can make redness and inflammation way worse. So if your skin is inflamed with redness and heat, it’s smarter to first calm everything down with a panthenol and madecassoside repair cream. Once the skin settles, then you can move on to the ceramide cream to actually rebuild the barrier. That order makes the biggest difference.

The key is to handle the inflammation and heat first, then slowly add back the lipid layer once things are calmer.

I’ll recommend one solid panthenol + madecassoside cream that has good concentration and a nice formula for the price. If you really want to feel the effect clearly, go for the cream version instead of lighter textures. Creams tend to have higher active levels and are gentler on inflamed, heated skin.
I’ll share the three products I’ve tried! Hope this helps someone!
