I’m turning to online strangers bc at this point I need any kind of advice I can get. I quit my studies in International Relations for personal reasons, but also because I went into it with the childish idea that I was going to end wars and cure world hunger, work in the UN and be rich and powerful. Didn’t take long for me to be absolutely disgusted with corporate roles, and what I’ve started calling the middle class job market: you study Business or IR or Marketing and get an empty job title as like a Project Manager or an Analyst, filling excel sheets and having meetings about the meeting about the excel sheet.

In an attempt to escape that, and with the sole idea of making money to get out of my parents house I found myself in a never ending cycle. No education (I quit uni in my third year so I just have a high school diploma), no experience, and mostly nothing to pull from.

I live in an outermost region of Spain, where most people work in hospitality. Not many jobs, not many opportunities. Big companies are just hotels, travel agencies, owners of entire towns.

I have worked as a Sales Assistant at an artesanal shop, I’ve made sushi at a supermarket, entertainment at a hotel. Entry level, no experience, minimum wage jobs with shit schedules.

I dont want or need a good salary, I’m fine with minimum wage. I would just like something that doesn’t make me want to pull my hair out every morning.

The obvious answer is something we all fall into: BE YOUR OWN BOSS

but being fr we can’t all be entrepreneurs. There’s not that many good ideas out there for all of us folks.

I just want what we all want: Flexibility

My qualifications are, on paper, limited: An IR background in politics, economics, law, commerce and communications that I don’t think I’ll get much use of (not a lot of opportunities where I’m from, -and I’m not willing to relocate)

I’m doing an online course on aesthetic medicine (its just a few months online with a job placement, and for the price of the course it seemed a good idea to have something, some certificate, anything that can help, and its a job I wouldn’t mind doing)

Mostly, I feel the most driven towards creative jobs, I want movement and energy and to be constantly on my toes. Marketing was obviously a thought, but its a very saturated market to be getting into from 0 (and im not making a tik tok account to try and get a job in marketing through UGC or smth like that, because once more, we can’t all be influencers)

Conclusion: Idk man

I want a lot of things, like Sylvia Plath with the figs, and I’m getting sick of wanting and yearning and trying and discarding, starting a new job for it to be worse that the other and never going forward.

It’s been almost a year since I started working and I haven’t saved to move out, I don’t have a car, and everything keeps going downhill. I will keep trying and working my ass of, but I need to have some sense of direction
